British Championship (BCCC) Rule Changes

E-mail Print

At the AGM yesterday, new Rules for the BCCC were agreed. You can see the full new Rules on this website but the main changes are:-

  1. Only One Candidates section rather than three. Everyone else in Reserves.
  2. Seeding, where necessary, will be based on the ICCF rating list
  3. Slightly extended season to allow maximum playing time, yet still allowing for an Annual Championship
  4. Time Limit reduced to 10 moves in 35 days (rather than 10 in 40 as at present) with time doubling after 15 days spent on any one move.

Points 1 and 2 are designed to allow better value for money (players will get more games for their money) and to reduce the chance of mismatches and discouragement. Players will now have a better chance of playing other people of their own standard and therefore enjoy their games more.

Points 3 and 4 are designed to give the maximum chance that all games are completed without the need for adjudication. Most players presently experience a substantial build-up of time and very little, if any, time pressure, so the new Rules should have minimul adverse effect.#

You can enter next season's tournament online at this website! Please suuport your national Championship!!
