The latest positions in the 2009-10 British Correspondence Chess Team Championship are: Square Bashers 7.5/10;  Old Bradfordians 7/13; BCCA A 6.5/10; Revenue & Customs 6.5/12;  Sheffield 4.5/10; SCCA 4/9; Civil Service Administrators 3.5/6; HSBC Bank PLC 3.5/11; Mensa 3/8; BCCA B 2/7.  The adjudication date is 30 September 2009.

The 2008-9 BLCCC has been won by Sue Howell of Redhill with a clean score of 4/4. She wins £50 and holds the Lady Herbert Trophy for a year. Second on 2 was Valerie Craven of Leeds who wins £25, and third was Stephanie Lawrence of Cheslyn Hay on 0. Sue first won the title in 2007, while she and Valerie tied first in 2008.
Entries for the 2009-10 BLCCC should reach me by the closing date of 30 September 2009 (entry fee £7; cheques payable to BFCC).

INTERNATIONAL ARBITER AWARD - IAN PHEBY

BFCC would like to congratulate SM IAN PHEBY who will be awarded the ICCF international arbiter title at the ICCF congress in Leeds. Ian has completed well over 1000 rated games as a tournament director for ICCF as well as numerous other non rated events. Well done and thanks for all the hard work!

Potter best game prize

Congratulations to Terry Taylor who has won the Potter best game prize for his game against JA Moreira in the 6th North Atlantic Team Tournament. The winning game will be published in the next issue of the BFCC Information Circular.

Agreement with Opening Master

We are glad to announce, the group “Opening Master” has signed a one year sponsorship agreement with BFCC in the UK. The agreement is about sponsoring 50 of our international and national players in the form of platinum membership at www.openingmaster.com. 

Opening Master was founded by Alexander Horvath, SIM ICCF from Slovakia. The website offers multimedia, monthly or quarterly updates of data, monitoring of world chess movement in chess openings and many other chess data or reports. 

Opening Master sponsors the International Chess Correspondence Federation (www.iccf.com) and several other national federations in Europe and Latin America.
