BFCC best game prizes 2009

Congratulations to the prizewinners: Ian Pheby (Potter best game prize) and Terry Taylor (Wason brilliancy prize). Thanks to all entrants and to GM Richard Hall for judging the competitions.

The winning games will appear in the BFCC Information Circular in due course.

 

International Friendlies - Match Score Update

England Team Captain Barry Sheppard has provided an update on all the current Match scores - see "International" page for full details.

He has also provided some interesting Team statistics covering all International Matches played since 2005 when he first became Team Captain - these include Most Capped Players, Top Percentage Performers, Top Point Scorers and England Match Summary record. 
 

BCCTC and BLCCC

The latest scores in the BCCTC are: Square Bashers 4/6, Civil Service Admin 3.5/6, Mensa 3/5,  SCCA 2.5/5,  Sheffield 2/4, BCCA  1.5/2, Old Bradfordians 1.5/4, Revenue & Customs 0.5/2, HSBC Bank PLC 0.5/4.
In the BLCCC, Sue Howell has beaten Karen Hurley 2-0; Valerie Craven has also beaten Karen Hurley 2-0.

ICCF 3rd Veterans World Cup

The Third ICCF Veteran’s World Cup will be started on 1st September 2010.
As with the 2nd VWC, the event will be organised in three stages, which will allow several players from each group stage to advance to the Semi-finals and Final. The number of promotions will depend on the total of entries received, but groups at each stage will comprise of 13 players (12 games) played by webserver with a rate of play of 10 moves in 40 days.
ICCF Veteran’s World Cups are open to all players who are 60 years old or more at the start of the tournament. Although the number of preliminary groups which each player may enter is unlimited, no player will qualify for more than two Semi-final groups or more than one place in the Final. Entries to be received before 17th July 2010. The  subsidised entry fee is £15 through BFCC. Please send your entrie(s) to Andrew Dearnley, 17 Smithy Hill, Upper Denby, Huddersfield, HD8 8UH including a cheque payable to 'BFCC'. If you prefer to pay online, that is fine. Please use the description 'ICCF 3rd Veterans WC' but still advise your entry by post or email to me, including your date of birth in the communication.

British Veterans Championship Update

Edward Sowden has taken a commanding lead in the final of the British Veterans Championship with 5/6. Only three players can still catch him. For full crosstable see:-
